Anthelope and AF Trade have selected a peated rum cask for the Hong Kong and Macau markets.
This marks the first release of a rum cask as a single cask from Shindo Distillery intended for export.
Following the well-established Mizunara and Bourbon casks from Shindo Distillery—which have already earned a score of 90 points in *Whisky Fun*—we invite you to try this beautifully matured rum cask single cask, released in the distillery’s fourth year.
With a gentle aroma of raisins and dried fruits—not too overpowering—and a subtle hint of peat, it evokes the feeling of enjoying a fruit cocktail under a beach umbrella by a tropical blue sea. The waxy mouthfeel and flavors of dried figs, nutmeg, and cinnamon are derived from the rum. It offers a smooth roundness and a lingering finish that belies its alcohol content. This peated rum cask single cask whiskey is thoroughly enjoyable when sipped neat.
