NEW! Mars Malt Le Papillon Luomis Shijimi
The “Mars Malt Le Papillon” series uses the motif of butterflies native to Japan to express the beauty of Japan's natural environment and the seasonal climate that shapes the aging of whisky.
This product, which uses the rare and small “Luomis Shijimi” butterfly as its theme, is a triple cask single malt whisky that was distilled at the Mars Tsunuki distillery and matured in three bourbon barrels, inspired by the image of its exotic blue wings shining in the dim evergreen forest.
<Luomis Shijimi> “The Luomis Shijimi is one of Japan's most representative and rare butterflies. It is named after the American naturalist who discovered it, and it was a butterfly that I had admired since I was a boy. I first encountered it at the end of August in my second year of high school. I explored a dry stream in the dark evergreen forest of Minami Boso. It was difficult to walk in the valley, and the sweat pouring out of me like I was in a sauna made my eyes water and my vision often became blurred. When I looked down at my feet, I saw several leeches crawling up my trousers. The moment I finally met the butterfly I had longed for, despite the horror, was unforgettable. This triple cask single malt whisky was made by selecting three casks of malt whisky distilled at the Mars Tsunuki distillery and aged in bourbon barrels, with the image of the exotic blue wings shining in the dark evergreen forest.
