本坊酒造株式會社是信洲Mars蒸餾廠之母公司，有過百年的蒸餾經驗。信洲Mars酒廠位於長野縣上伊那郡宮田村，地處中央阿爾卑斯山脈 798 公尺的山坡處，是日本海拔最高的酒廠。Mars Whisky使用花崗岩質土壤下的清澈水源，提供威士忌最重要的天然水源，製作出最優秀、高品質的Mars威士忌。
Mars Whisky founded in 1985 by Hombo Shuzo Ltd. More than centurey experience of distilling. Shinshu Mars distillery is located in Miyada, Kamiina District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Is the highest distillery in Japan at 798 meters situated between the north and south Japanese apls. The environment of Shinshu distillery is surrounded by granitic soil with crystal clear water source, making the finest quality and high standard Mars whisky.
The Shinshu Mars Distillery is located in Miyadamura at the foot of the Komagatake, which is the central alps of 798m elevations, the highest altitdue in Japan. It is a foggy and cool district where the temperature often goes down to 15 degrees below zero in winter, and over 30 degrees in summer, the temperature difference is 48 degrees which make a good effect on making whisky. Distillery surrounded by the good quality natural pure water and the nature’s bounty, is also the important elements to make high quality whisky.

岩井喜一郎在取得當時清酒酒廠Settu下屬竹鶴政孝的‘竹鶴報告’後加入了本坊酒造，結合了‘竹鶴報告’及自身的威士忌知識，設計出罐式蒸餾器及創立了‘Mars Whisky蒸餾廠’。岩井喜一郎致力於製作比蘇格蘭更高質量的威士忌， Mar Whisky內採用了罐式蒸餾器及後Mars的威士忌被形容為威士忌中的’寶石’。
Kiichiro Iwai and in obtaining his subordinate Masataka Taketsuru’s ‘Taketsuru report' after joined the Hombo Shuzo, a combination of 'Taketsuru reporting' knowledge and their own whiskey, designed and created the tank type distillers 'Mars Whisky distillery'. Founded in 1872 by Matsuzaemon Hombo, Hombo Shuzo is a small Japanese producer of alcoholic beverages with a distillery located high up in the Japanese Alps. Sitting at an altitude of 798 metres above sea level, the Mars Shinshu Distillery is situated in the small village of Miyada near Tokyo and first opened its doors in 1985. The colder mountain climate coupled with moderate humidity and high quality water makes for the production of great whisky. The company is building a second distillery next to the old Hombo family house in Tsunuki with spirit due to flow off the stills in November.

Mars Maltage 3+25是在本坊酒造在已關閉的鹿兒島酒廠蒸餾的調和威士忌。三年於鹿兒島裝桶，其後被運到長野進一步釀製25年，因此而得名。這國際獎項把Mars Whisky帶到國際威士忌愛好者的眼前。
Mars Maltage 3 plus 25 was distilled at Hombo in Kagoshima in the early ‘80s before the Nagano distillery was built in 1985. Once the spirit had been aged for three years in Kagoshima, it could officially be labeled as whisky and be shipped up to Nagano for further maturation of 25 years, hence the name. This whisky has garnered international attention and bring Mars Whisky to the spot light of the world.
